Not Afraid to Admit it… I Love McLaren.
Event hosted by Classic Car Club Manhattan @cccmanhattan
A fine assortment of the UK’s best…
If I gave you… let’s say… $350,000 USD, and you had to buy a supercar with that money, what would you buy? Let’s see what our options are: some Lamborghini’s, a select few Ferrari models, A Porsche GT car… whatever the list goes on. That list does, however, include most modern McLarens, but I know for a fact that it wouldn’t be a lot of people’s first choice. For one, Lamborghini and Ferrari are THE supercars. They were everyone’s poster cars as a child, and today they are still just as iconic. Those two brands get immediate nostalgia points over McLaren. Then on the other hand, there is so much hype around Porsche (which won’t go away any time soon) so most people will automatically default to Porsche GT cars, and so would I before I was exposed to the overstated beauty of McLaren.
Beautifully spec’d McLaren Artura Spider - THIS CAR DESERVES MORE LOVE.
McLaren’s work often gets overshadowed by one of two things: the loud colors and crazy, almost need for speed, specs. Or the reputation they have for being the most unreliable supercar. Can I argue with either of these things? Not really. I’ve spent enough years defending BMW… I don’t have any more energy for this kind of thing. Instead of playing defense for the brand, let me offer you a new perspective on their cars.
In my heart of hearts, I truly feel that McLaren makes the most beautiful supercar in today’s world, and I have no clue why other people can’t see this. They have mastered the art of luscious curves and bodacious dips, kind of like a… nevermind, I’ve been naughty enough in these articles. For real tho, everyone hates on the Artura for being an entry-level supercar or whatever, but they’re missing out on sheer beauty. Idgaf if it’s entry-level or not, it’s a beautiful dance of flowing lines, simplicity, and timeless design… all in an “entry-level supercar”… shouldn’t we be celebrating this?
McLaren Artura GT3
I’m not here to report on McLaren’s latest supercar, how the brand is doing, or the fact that they can’t keep their F1 team’s head(s) out of their ass(es). My goal this morning was to cleanse your cluttered mind of the negative press, ridicule, and naysay about these cars that everyone else will throw at you for the sake of hating what everyone else hates. Take a better look at their catalog of work, every car that they have put out over the last I don’t know how many years, still looks like it could have came out yesterday… HELLO!!! That is all we ever wanted - timeless supercars, that (reportedly) drive with character, are rowdy, and totally won’t go into limp mode at the thought of an oil change.
Cheers, McLaren… you earned a new supporter.
(Not for your F1 team tho.)
